What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese method designed for stress relief and relaxation while also encouraging healing. This technique involves "laying on hands" and is founded on the belief that an invisible "life force energy" flows within us, which is essential for life. When our "life force energy" is diminished, we are more susceptible to illness and stress; however, when it is abundant, we are better equipped to experience happiness and health.

Is Reiki a religion?

Reiki is a universal practice that transcends religious boundaries. It is not affiliated with any specific religion and welcomes everyone to experience its healing benefits. Reiki is inherently spiritual and promotes inclus, allowing trained practitioners to embrace their own beliefs while providing support to others. Anyone can enjoy the transformative effects of Reiki, regardless of their background.

Can anyone practice Reiki?

Only qualified Reiki practitioners can practice Reiki. Anyone can study Reiki and become a practitioner after they have passed their training. You can not however simply wake up one day and declare yourself a Reiki master and start doing Reiki on people, this is dangerous. Reiki practitioners undergo extensive training and are properly attuned to the practice. This highlights the importance of conducting thorough research to ensure you find a qualified practitioner.

What can Reiki treat?

Reiki practitioners and recipients have reported positive experiences across a wide range of health concerns, from headaches, digestive discomfort and everyday stress to the emotional and physical challenges of serious illness.

Some people describe greater comfort during medical treatment, a more restful recovery and improvements in their overall wellbeing. Others have shared accounts of remarkable improvement.

Each person’s response is individual, and neither benefits nor complete healing can be guaranteed. Reiki offers a gentle, supportive space for relaxation and emotional care, alongside appropriate medical treatment. Reiki can only meet you where you are.

Does energy healing really work?

People turn to Reiki for support with a wide range of concerns, from everyday tension and emotional stress to the challenges of serious illness. Some describe feeling calmer, more comfortable and emotionally supported during medical treatment or recovery.

Practitioners and recipients have also shared accounts of significant improvements in wellbeing.

Every experience is different, and no healing outcome can be promised, but more and more research is coming out to show that Reiki and energy healing do work:

Is Reiki safe for pregnant women?

Yes! Reiki is safe for everyone! Reiki can only do good. It is perfectly safe for pregnant woman. Many pregnant women have received treatments.

Does Reiki replace medical treatment?

NO! Reiki is a complimentary treatment that works along side other medical treatments. It is not a substitute for medical care and any other medical treatment you are receiving should be continued.

Do you take your clothes off for healing treatments?

NO! Please don't! During Reiki and Crystal treatments you are fully clothed.  You remain fully clothed on a massage table throughout the session.

How often should you go for treatments and how many treatments will I need?

Initially a series of 3 to 4 sessions spaced over a couple of weeks would be ideal. After that at least every 1-3 months. Healing is not a destination, it is a journey.  Some people need or want to have treatments a lot more frequently than others. It also depends on what you are wanting to get out of your sessions, is it for stress, pain management, spiritual growth or general well being?  This is best discussed with your practitioner who can advise you accordingly.

What if I change my mind or feel uncomfortable during a treatment?

You can ask questions, request an adjustment, pause or stop the treatment at any time. You’ll never be pressured to continue a session if you feel it isn't the correct treatment for you, or asked to justify your decision. If at any point you feel like it is not the right healing modality for you, you are welcome to leave.
