What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle healing practice that originated in Japan with Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei, meaning “universal,” and Ki, meaning “life energy.” It is this universal life energy that flows through all living things and is the foundation of Reiki healing.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner channels this energy through light touch or by holding their hands just above the body. The energy flows to where it is needed most, helping to release stress, clear energetic blockages, and restore balance on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. Many people describe the experience as deeply calming, refreshing, and nurturing.
Reiki is not tied to any religion or belief system — it works naturally with the body’s own healing abilities

What does Reiki feel like?
Reiki is administered through the hands of a certified Reiki practitioner with the client lying fully clothed on a massage table. A session usually lasts between 30 minutes to an hour and a half and shorter sessions are also possible. A Reiki session feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that surrounds and fills the client and includes feelings of relaxation, peace and well-being that also promote healing.
